University of Kent Space Society

Telescopes

We have 2 fixed 12-inch telescopes in Parkwood on campus and 7 portable smaller telescopes.

All members are taught how to the use the Telescopes, so you don't need to be a budding Astronomer! As a member you will also get free all year round access to them as well as free BBQ's, Telescope  and meteor shower nights.

The society also has the use of the 2m Faulkes Telescope based in Hawaii. The remote use of this telescope is free again to members and some of the images from it are shown above.

The telescopes are maintained by students for the use of members. There 3 committee positions responsible for this and they are called "telescope officers" any fully paid member can stand for one of these positions.

See the photo gallery for map to the domes.
